Road builders may have to pay fine to exit road projects

Union Road Minister Oscar Fernandes has said that road developers in the country will not be blamed for delays in regulatory procedure but have to take responsibility for their own faults and may have to pay up to 1 per cent of total project cost as penalty for exiting. If there is any fault on the part of the concessionaire, then there will be a penalty of a maximum of one per cent, of the total project for the developer to exit the project, he said.

BMC to count vehicles first before taking road works

In a first of its kind in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is planning to conduct vehicle counts on roads in the city before taking up any road infrastructure project. The civic body has decided to buy at least two vehicle-counting machines to start with and these will be installed on those particular roads which may require infrastructural changes.

TN sanctions Rs 250 cr for road Infrastructure

Media reports say that Tamil Nadu government on July 2 sanctioned over Rs 250 crore for different road-related works in different districts of the state.
